Mediation and Interpreting in the Healthcare Sector

DESCRIPTION

In the context of global migration, the challenges and requirements of mediation in social settings, particularly in the healthcare sector, are being redefined. This course provides an overview of the most relevant aspects of intercultural and interlingual mediation in healthcare, including communicative, legal, and ethical considerations, personal and professional suitability, motivation, stress management, and psychological strain.

In addition, participants will receive an introduction to basic bilateral and consecutive interpreting techniques.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The course is primarily designed for translators, interpreters, and communication professionals who wish to specialize in the healthcare sector. It is also open to other professionals interested in acquiring a basic understanding of community interpreting in medical contexts.

The course is also open to students and researchers at all levels who are interested in the subject.

CERTIFICATION

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive an official joint certificate from Heidelberg University and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
