
MEDIACIÓN E INTERPRETACIÓNEN EL SECTOR DE SALUD
MEDIATION AND INTERPRETATION IN HEALTHCARE
In the context of global migration movements, the challenges and requirements of mediation in social areas, particularly in the healthcare sector, are being redefined.
This course provides an overview of the most relevant topics in intercultural and interlinguistic mediation in healthcare, including communicative, legal, and ethical aspects, personal and professional suitability, motivation, stress management, and psychological burden.
Participants will also receive an introduction to basic techniques of bilateral and consecutive interpreting.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The course is primarily designed for translators, interpreters, and communication professionals who wish to specialize in the healthcare field, but it is also open to other professionals interested in acquiring basic knowledge of community interpreting in medical contexts.
CERTIFICATION
Participants who successfully complete the diploma program will receive an official joint certification from Heidelberg University and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
DURATION
The course lasts 5 weeks, from June 28 to July 25, 2025, and consists of 24 teaching hours.
It grants 2 ECTS credits, corresponding to 24 contact hours and 36 hours of autonomous work.
Schedule: Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00 (Chile time) and Tuesdays from 18:30 to 20:30 (Chile time).
Language: Spanish and English.
Format: Online.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent* in Communication, Social Studies, Cultural Studies, Language, Literature, Translation and Interpreting, Journalism, Advertising, International Relations, Linguistics, Philology, Philosophy, Social Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Resources, or Political Science, with the intention of specializing in communication and translation management within the sustainability field.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in other areas with relevant professional experience.
- Intermediate English skills (B2 level or higher).
