Third Talk of the II International Law Conference SeriesTHE HCLA WELCOMES “NEW PERSPECTIVES ON HUMANITARIAN LAW”
With the Netherlands as a special guest, the Heidelberg Center for Latin America (HCLA) welcomed Professor Larissa van den Herik, an International Law scholar from Leiden University (Netherlands), and lawyer Catalina Fernández, Head of the Universal Human Rights System Department at the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and professor of Public International Law at the University of Chile, on Tuesday, August 20th. The talk was moderated by Professor Paula Cortés, a graduate of the Master's in International Law from Heidelberg University in collaboration with the University of Chile, and gathered over fifty attendees.
The hybrid event focused on exploring the challenges posed by the current conflict in Ukraine from the perspective of International Law and Humanitarian Law.
The discussion was attended by the Dutch Ambassador, Carmen Gonsalves, the judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and co-director of the LL.M. María Teresa Infante, and Aude Argouse, the Director of International Relations at the Faculty of Law at the University of Chile.
The Master's (LL.M.) in International Law was established at the Heidelberg Center for Latin America in 2004 and is accredited for 8 years by the National Accreditation Commission until 2030. To date, 345 students from over thirty countries have graduated from this program.
