Alumni Medical PhysicsIgnacio López

Ignacio López did his Bachelor's degree in Physics and holds a Master's degree in Medical Physics, both from Pontifical Catholic University in Santiago de Chile (UC). During his Bachelor's degree, he generated mathematical models to better understand the distribution of peripheral radiation. For his Master's thesis, he studied the effect of radiation on circulating lymphocytes.

Currently, Ignacio is working as a PhD student at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mark Ladd in the Division of Medical Physics in Radiology. His research focuses on developing and simulating new metamaterials to enhance the signal from MRI antennas using 7T MRI.

In his short video, he explains why he studied Physics.
